Long Term Disability Insurance......Dave Ramsey's Advice

"Have you forgotten to insure your greatest asset...most people have." Dave Ramsey     Your ability to work and earn a living is your greatest asset. If you became disabled, how would you pay your mortgage, buy groceries, or provide for your families needs? Following Dave Ramsey's advice on disability insurance will make sure your family's protected while not overspending. Purchase Long Term Disability with a benefit period no less than 5 years. Consider Employer or Association plans if available but only if they offer the benefits your family needs. Have a benefit of at least 60-65% of your current income. Select 90-180 day waiting periods to save money on monthly premiums. Avoid short term plans (2 years or less) and other supplemental programs like cancer, accident or critical illness policies. Rely on your emergency fund instead. Avoid add-on riders that raise your cost but not your protection.       If you have already taken care of this important matter please forward this to someone you think it might help.   Long Term Disability Insurance......    As many of you know I'm a big fan of the advice that Dave Ramsey provides on his outlets. 'Tha'-Wifey-Rhonda' and I just finished his Financial Peace University class. While Dave Ramsey and I disagree slightly on GIUL investments I love almost everything else he provides. Here is his advice on Long Term Disability policies. He also promotes Zander Insurance. I've done the research and have found Zander to be an incredible company. TAX DEADLINE APPROACHING – APRIL 17, 2012

Guess what time it is? Almost tax deadline time! If you still haven't filed your taxes or are in need of an extension, please contact us so we can get one filed for you. The deadline this year is April 17, 2012 because of a District of Columbia holiday. April 17th is also the deadline for filing an automatic six month extension (Form 4868).

Remember the six month extension is for filing the return only. Any tax due must be paid by April 17, 2012 to avoid any penalty and interest.

For INSTRUCTIONS on how to get your taxes prepared visit our website, click on the "TAXES" tab and then download the "Tax Preparation Worksheet," on the left side of the page.

If you need to file an automatic extension, click on the "TAXES" tab and fill out the "Tax Preparation Extension Request" form and send it in to our office prior to the deadline.
